How to Host an Author Event at Your Church or Library

What does a church or library need in order to host an author event?

A workable host provides an accessible meeting room, one named local coordinator, an on site safety lead, basic audiovisual support, a small volunteer team, a promotion path into the surrounding community, and a clear policy for book sales or signings. For a Shared Mountain Session, ninety minutes covers a reading, reflection, guided workshop, community conversation, and signing.

The seven things a host supplies

An accessible space with step free entry and seating that can be rearranged. A named coordinator who answers email. A safety lead who owns the room on the day. Microphone and projection. Three to six volunteers. A promotion path. A signing plan.

The ninety minute shape

Reading, then reflection, then a guided workshop where participants name a preserved breath, a mountain, and a rope team, then open conversation, then signing.

The hybrid arrangement that works best

A church or community organization convenes the people and the hospitality. A library or church facility supplies the room. The two together reach further than either alone.
