Cardiovascular Preservation in Cancer Survivorship, in Plain Language

What is cardio-oncology?

Cardio-oncology is the field that protects the cardiovascular health of people who have cancer or who have survived it, coordinating prevention, monitoring, and long term follow through alongside cancer treatment. This article is general education and not medical advice.

Survivorship is a lifetime, not a discharge date

Treatments that save a life can also place stress on the heart and vasculature. Preservation means planning for decades rather than for the months of active therapy.

Prevention is the quietest intervention

Blood pressure, lipids, glucose, activity, sleep, and follow up appointments rarely feel dramatic. They are, cumulatively, among the most powerful protections a survivor has.

Access decides outcomes

A protocol that never reaches a patient does not protect anyone. Nationwide licensure, virtual care, and community programming exist to close that distance.

A note on scope

Nothing here is individual clinical care and no physician and patient relationship is created. Bring every question to your own clinician.
